@KewneRain I think its because you're still a force to be reckoned with even when you don't have power-ups, but R-Type is also a thinking man's shooter. It's more about strategy then reflex and skill.

@walter0bz yeah but that's because Gradius V was made by Treasure, the kings of side scrolling shooters where the rest of the Gradius series is made by Konami. All the R-type games are made by Irem.
