Diastasis Recti Abdominis is a separation of the Rectus Abdominis muscles at the front of the abdomen, which often occurs during pregnancy. This video shows you how to test yourself. Visit http://mutusystem.com for diastasis recti exercises.
This video shows how to test to see if you have a gap, & how wide it is. The most common mistake women make when performing the Diastasis Recti Test is to lift their head & shoulders before applying pressure, thus contracting the Rectus muscle before you start. This will give an inaccurate result. It's important to keep head & shoulders relaxed on the floor, then apply pressure with your finger tips as you raise you head very slightly from the floor.
If your post-baby belly 'pooches' or domes, if you have a weak or sore lower back or if you're wondering why your postpartum / postnatal tummy just won't lie flat, this is likely to be one of the reasons.
