  • You made a really cool beat.

  • thanks man. i got lucky then, lol.

  • this was way of. at 1:32, talking about blacks being generalized as drug users and gangsters... "Read A Book" never generalized anything.

And the inarticulation was a satire of hip hop. You apparently did not get the message.

And you sound white. You must be one of those ignorant white liberals that make the rest look retarded by trying to find everything offensive or racist, so you can be the white savior OVER minorities. Yes, over. I believe ppl like you are racist.

  • i am white and i am not a racist. this song is not about saving anyone or talking down to anyone. i just wonder why many rappers only talk about "hood" life, drugs, guns, and things like that when (1) many of then havent ever done things like that and (2) people get mad when ignorant whites generalize blacks as retarded gang-bangers, but rappers are the reason that the generalizations exist.

  • The song spoofed the rap style that kids find "cool" and put actually meaning in it. Read a book/get an education, keep up your hygiene, and drink water over unhealthy alternatives like soda and alcoholic beverages. So again, how is that song "wrong" or "racist" since blacks aren't the only ones that watch BET. Grow up and actually listen to the message of the song instead of getting butthurt since the song was made by black rappers.

  • And I didn't listen to your rap all the way through, because it's terribly ameteurish and poorly written, and the underlying concepts are based on intentional hypersensitivity.

  • The only people who felt the song was racist are idiots who don't understand that these sorts of things are actually happening. It's not racist to suggest that people without an education should get an education, it's not racist to suggest that people buy homes instead of sparkly crap, and it's not racist to say "nigga", nor is it racist to say anything else.

  • furthermore, your "response" gives a negative vibe on the vid, actually discrediting it's message. You're causing the opposite message to be received then what you're saying.

  • the thing is, Read a Book worked, despite what you thing, there was a 5% increase in black community towards reading and the like. Also, the creator went on an interview and explained that if the teenage population response to rap and cussing, then if that what it takes he'll do what he has to. He actually succeeded, so you're input that he screwed it up was wrong.

  • ok, so what your sayin is. Instead of presenting the message towards the target audience in an appealing way, you want to try to be articulate (which is the problem with the audience its targeting, they arnt articulate their ignorant as hell) to deliver the message. I think your missing the point of the song.

  • You really are a guilty white person.

  • The fact that a black man said it really makes it A LOT worse.

When people of other races hear black people talk about other black people like this--calling each other "niggers", saying we all have children out of wedlock, calling each other dirty and stupid--this is what really keeps the stereotypes alive. When we say it to each other, we make it seem true, even if its not.

If a white person called all black people stupid, would you believe them? Or call them racist?

Now why isn't it the same?

  • The whole message for read a book a very positive. I appreciate the fact that some one out there has realized that, the only way to get better is to do better. Educate yourself and you will succeed.

The downside: they pretty much just focused singularly on black people. They used the word "nigger" constantly. That is most likely the reason this video came off as racist. If they had made it sound like they were talking to everyone, it could have been MUCH better. :D

  • to the person that made this video:

take it down and educate yourself about the video.

Lil' jon and now a days rappers use this medium of music (rap) which just so happens to be infused with messages of what is cool and hip (violence, sex, drugs, money) and is some of the only messages received by young adults.

Read a book attempts to emulate the vessel of the poor messages and infuse it with positive messages. Accept it as is; a play against the main stream using their own ammo
