Friction Song

Here is a song I created to help my 6th grade students study. I hope you enjoy.

When you exert or move objects
Resistance is the way when surface is rough
Its called friction here's what it do
Opposes motion between two
It slows and warms up

Friction occurs when the surface is rough
Some surfaces look smooth but are bumpy and tough
When the hills of this one meet the valley of that
Surface then they can stick or grab hold, you know

They will not float in vacuums
Greater force creates more friction
Cause amount depends force pushing
And you must account for two pushing together
When the force is up hills and valleys closer space
The friction between them is raised ah
Pushing them together in place ah
Less force smaller objects take

When you change the number it touches
Doesn't change the amount of friction
If you slide a thing effective opposing
That is called sliding friction
When you're rolling, let's say you're rolling
It moves easy don't matter if heavy
But the water's enter fluid friction
It changes the pace lower friction
But when a small force is pushing
And the object still resides
Static friction balances
To the force applied

Its called friction here's what it do

Friction's helpful and it also is harmful
Can't be walking without it, but it wears down your sneakers
And it causes erosion
But is there, pen and paper
Even though we all know what it do...it do

Sometimes friction is reduced
Lubricants applied making things slide
Surface reduced friction between them
Motor oil, wax, grease are used sometimes
But rolling friction can lower sliding motion
Ball bearings in wheels make them go you know

It's easier to flow
But when a rougher one
Increased friction making surfaces cling
And they're holding on
And you raising the pushing of the two surfaces together
Increased friction
