FDNY Battalion 7, High Rise 1, and brand spanking new Engine 3 get called on a run to smoke on the second floor of a high rise building at 290 Park Avenue. This is a rarity due to the fact that HRU 1 almost never gets called to a run. Battalion 7, HRU 1, and engine 3, along with Tower Ladder 12, are housed on 19th Street between 6th and 7th Avenue (closer to 7th Avenue). Battalion 7 is a Ford Excursion, HRU 1 is part Saulsbury, part Mack, and Engine 3 is a brand spanking new Seagrave. This is actually the engine's first day in service, with it having been on only one previous run, about an hour before this call, meaning that this run is it's second run ever. At the :16 second mark, notice the Battalion Chief sliding down the pole. If you have any questions about the video, feel free to message me. Comments are welcome. The video was taken on September 30th, 2008.

  • That probably also means that you 1. Didnt have enough time to properly dress out. 2 Probably are forced to finish dressing out in the rig which is unsafe, and 3 Almost no department is able to have a crew dress out, enter the rig, and hit the road in 30 seconds MAX. Im not trying to be an ass or something, but it just isnt likely

  • wow your a dumbass.

  • @alex3190bsb There are 2 Firefighter that ride in the High Rise.

  • Battalion 7?!

That's Orio Palmer's old unit. May we never forget his sacrifice on 9/11.

  • FDNY had much faster turnouts back in the 1960's when the alarms came over the bells. If you didn't run, you might miss the rig. Under 60 sec's was normal.

  • @SarniaFireBuff If you listened to the guy filming talking you would of heard them mentioning the High Rise Unit and setting it up, that will delay the response...which in this case it did

  • @aminor15 Too loud.

  • Why dont they use real Q sirens?

  • how many ff goes on a run in the HRU?

  • @SarniaFireBuff- i know what you mean but think about this, Im a volunteer firefighter, think about how long it takes us to get to the station? Those guys are already at the station ready to go, sometimes it could take us close to 10mins to get to the station if traffic is bad and you can't use sirens.
