This is pretty definitive techno. Trance was a widely used term back in about 1992-95 - as prog house got a harder edge to it, lost the vocals, and got more techno-fied. The music was widely varied, with all kinds of weird sounds, arrangements and beats, which is probably why the name didn't stick, and ended up being used to describe the goa/psy variety, which tends to stick within quite narrow confines in terms of sound.
It was a good time to start clubbing, back then - loads of great music!

This is sheer genius! and BTW its TECHNO! its Vapour Space (Mark Gage) on Plus 8 records. Pure Techno!. Trance is some diluted piss ant shit, that derived from crappy london/Israeli hybrid hippies, (Dragonfly records, being one culprit) that got lost in Goa back in the mid 90's listening happy repetitive beats because they couldn't handle their acid and to listen to real progressive techno music so they they made Goa trance, then they dropped Goa and others like you started calling stuff trance

I met Mark Gage after a live PA in Dayton, mentioned the similarities between this and Steve Miller Band's Threshold, he said, "I've never thought of it, but my parents listened to that record a lot when I was a kid."
