Dear gothpapa. There was a substantial amount of re-engineering involved in moving from the Challenger to the Big Boy types. Not only was the boiler enlarged, but heating surface proportions were changed. The running gear was redesigned to make the Big Boy more stable, better riding and less slippery than its predecessors. The LATER UP Challengers have a family resemblance to the Big Boys, that's all. But they are definitely NOT the same.

@THEegoSHOOTERfreak20. nope, the "big boys" was a 4-8-8-4 but the "challangers was 4-6-6-4. BIG differens

@amp8852089 UR MOM
The second locomotive was a big boy at 1:49-1:51

@THEegoSHOOTERfreak20 It was actually a Challenger, #3985.

@gothpapa Well, no, the Big Boys are 4-8-8-4's, and the Challenges are 4-6-6-4's. Other than that they are pretty much the same. You can see a Big Boiy in my video "Seen on the UP in 1953" in the Steam in the States playlist.

@THEegoSHOOTERfreak20 Yes, in fact all the locos up to 0:50 are mikes. In order: GTW #4070 in Chicago, 1967; Southern #4501 in Kentucky, 1968; PKP (Polish State Railroads) PT47-112 in Wolsztyn, 2003; CB&Q #4960 in Galesburg, IL, 1966. I should do a Mike video. Thanks for the idea (:-])

2:23, wow, rare shot of Norfolk & Western 475 (strasburg 475)

@pennyf9 Well, I don't know for a fact that this is the #475, but it is certainly an N&W "M" class. This shot was made by my father about 1948 in the north end of Columbus, Ohio as it passed the freight dock of Transamerican Trucking Company where he was a driver.
