Since ancient times, stories of epic battles and mystical legends have been passed through the generations across the rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland. In "Brave," a new tale joins the lore when the courageous Merida (voice of Kelly Macdonald) confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts. Merida is a skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus (voice of Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (voice of Emma Thompson). Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (voice of Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (voice of Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (voice of Robbie Coltrane). Merida's actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric old Wise Woman (voice of Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to discover the meaning of true bravery in order to undo a beastly curse before it's too late.

I love how you think all womans are complete twits or deliberately obtuse because in that way I know you are either a troll, heartbroken or a "violated white man" and therefor oversensitive and unable to have a normal discusion, putting sentences in peoples mouths in order to oppress like you accused me of saying/thinking "this is a true-to-life depiction of life for women in medieval times" when I clearly didn't. I asked for movies (not this one) with a female protoganist + foolish men (which according to your previous comment wouldn't be hard to find)... Not for some pretty dated retarded programs like "Everybody Loves Raymond" or "2 and a half men".

The funny thing is that you look at this problem with a stereotypical tunnel vision à la "white violated man"

Just like women, men also suffer because of the norms and inequality that exists, but in the end it is men who sit at the top of the hierarchy.

I was refering to all movies ever made but some recent movies where the chick/s is/are in trouble multiply times or through out and/or is rescued by a man:

Spider man movies, Tangled, King Kong, Hulk, Lockout, are the ones that cross my mind at the moment.

We don't have to go all the way back to the 50's to find some pretty stupid women in Bond movies, Adventure and action movies.

And where are all thoes movies with a female protoganist + foolish/brain dead men? Apart from zombie movies ;)

There are tons of movies where women look stupid as fuck as the protagonists are males. But you are right about that it has improved.

Still the most common way to make the protagonist men superior and women inferior is of course by letting him saving womens fragile asses from dangerous situations in which the women very often tend to just fall into by being defenceless (though a lot of movies doesn't make the opposite sex inferior).

Making females defenceless and males stupid is very "Hollywood"

Because in the last 5 Pixar movies, every main character has been a really smart girl and her co-protagonist a stupid man. I think it is obvious who's the real stupid man in here...
