McLemore Avenue--inspired by Hammond organ instrumental groups like Booker T. & the MGs, the Meters, Jimmy Smith and Medeski, Martin & Wood--blends elements of the Stax sound, southern soul, groove, funk, and jazz with an original sound that is unique to Austin, Texas.
They are performing an orginal song from their album 926 East called "Me Gusta" live at Club de Ville in Austin, Texas. This clip features the Nord C1 organ and the Leslie 3300.
Patrick Benfield: Organ
Landis Armstrong: Guitar
Chris Johnson: Bass
Kevin Remme: Drums
John Bush: Percussion
McLemore Avenue has also appeared as the backing band for Swamp Dogg (aka Jerry Williams).
You can also see the members of the band in other notable groups:
Landis: The Small Stars and the Puala Neslon Band.
Chris: Paula Nelson Band, Roky Erickson and the Explosives, and the Freddie Steady Five.
Kevin Remme: The Paula Nelson Band, Gnappy
John Bush: Edie Brickell & New Bohemians
Wow!! Great perform, man.
I miss the "ME GUSTA!!" from the kids, like in album.
I bought 926 East from CDBaby with other hammond band albuns (Link Quartet, Big Organ Trio, Men from SPECTRE, 2B3, Diplomats of Solid Sound, Reverend Cleatus, Captain Hammond, etc).
Mclemore Avenue is on the top.
Cheers from Brasil.
