@notafraidoffuture we have the same opinion on Dream Theater and Paul Gilbert and guys like him are pretty much what i listen to these days.All i was sayn was that even if keith is not as technical as those shredders its still good to listen to him.Im a guitar player myself and i can play most of keiths stuff in my sleep too but that doesnt make em crap like you said:D

I don't think he is one of the best guitarists.
But boy he wrote many great songs and looks great on stage, and he is a really nice guy. I'm half way though his new book "Life"
And I cant see many other guitarists with such a long stage life as him.

@kfgenius If you are only checking out the "covers" on youtube you are missing some of the best guitarists on the planet. If you ejoy diversity you should check out the acoustic guys on candyrat.com. BTW Keith Richards wrote some great music and that should be enough to consider him a legend, but, IMO he never was a great guitarist. Now here's your curveball. I love the 80's and today's shred but music's finest hour was not the 60's. It was the "big band" era.

your forgetting that robert johnson sold his soul to help write his songs.....keith got the devil to sell him his soul so the song could be played again...

@notafraidoffuture Most of the youtubers can only imitate the music created by your "average" guitarists. There are a ton of pianists who are more technically brilliant that Chopin, or Beethoven, or Brahams, but who created the music? I can play their music on piano easily, but I would never have the gall to say I'm better than them. You have a one-dimensional attitude about the guitar. Most guys I know like that are painfully limited players. Respond if you want, I'm done.

@laertixc5 you should probably check out some Dream Theater but don't dismiss it immediately as shred. I'm not crazy about the vocals but IMO instumentally they are some of the best. Then if you are up for it check out Paul Gilbert. Though he is a shredder at heart he is very versatile, (just not a very good singer).

@UKToneKing "only" since 1973

@kfgenius I've been playing since 1973. I loved the Stones along with a number of bands in that era. When I had been playing for about a year I realized how average my guitar heros were. Then EVH showed up. I realized that even he was pretty ordinary compared to hundreds of un-named guitarists on youtube. So for me, for every Page or Hendrix there are 100 garage band guitarists on youtube that are better. YOU need to play 1-3 hours if you aren't better than Richards.

@Nickpatient Best description of Richards and best comment I've seen yet.
@notafraidoffuture sure his stuff may not be difficult to play but every guitarist has something to give even if it is Kurt Cobain or Michael Angelo Batio.If u wanna talk about 1960's music shut the fuck up coz music used to be better back then. but anyway its a matter of taste if u dont like keith just dont bother watching his videos.
