Tracking SBT guest solo

tracking my guest solo for the next SBT CD.. i'm playing the main part live here, and the harmonies are playing back from Pro Tools.... a bit too loudly.... they'll be mixed lower on the CD.

@Jsh35music i use various tunings as needed really... the guitar in this vid is a Caparison Horus HGS... "HGS" denotes Heavy Gauge String... it's a 6-string guitar, but it's tuned B to B, and is designed for heavy strings and low tunings. comes from the builder tuned B to B actually.

Brilliant! Hey James do you use a harmonizer? Also do you have any footage of work in the studio for when you did the rise album "pentagramnation"? I've talked to rise and they hope to be touring soon!

@pestilenes there is no harmonizer in any of my solos, except for my own fingers. i play them all myself. the ones you hear in video i recorded before i made the vid clip. i own an eventide, but i use it for delay, not harmonies.

@jamesfmurphy Eventide's are very nice, When you were in disincarnate the song "The stench of paradise burning" the lead in that song had two harmonies and the live video of that when you play the lead There's those very eerie first 3 harmonized notes and then the other section before the sweep did you use a eventide for that. Not to be a pain but was your black ibanez saber neckthrough?

@pestilenes nah, the saber was a bolt-on... it was a 540S. i think i was just using a Rocktron Intellifex to kind of half-ass the harmonies for me live back then.

James - I just want to say that your phrasing is some of my favorite. Its so tasteful and just lays into the music perfectly. The Roadrunner United solo you did on Glen's track still haunts me.

Hey james, while I can appreciate the idea of recording your own harmonies what is the reason? Is there any way you can use a harmonizer to delay the scaled, processed note from the root note? Just an idea I had but I don't own any processors anymore and haven't for years so I don't know what kind of technology is available nowadays.

Hey James, we haven't seen any input from you for several months. Personally I'm wondering what's going on. And also, maybe it's time to make some instructional DVD on how to play your solos or something? :)
