they are subject to gravity :) it's the thing keeps the station on it's orbit so it does not fly away. It's like they are in a freefall.. around the earth, constantly missing it because they fly forward so fast.

Just watching this is fullscreen I actually felt a bit scared- like the shuttle was going to start crashing into the earth. How close can you get to the earth without being subject to gravity?

I wonder if they are just allowed to do whatever. Like if they get board they just put on a space suit and use a propulsion backpack to float around in space or something. What do they do up there, are they searching for new stars or something?
