October 1997 visit to the ES&NA Railway at Eureka Springs, Arkansas. While the line is still in operation today, steam hasn't run in many years. The featured locomotive is No. 201, a 1906 Alco 2-6-0 from the Moscow, Camden & San Augustine.

  • This makes me sad. Me and my cousin rode the train back when we were little, and I remember this engine blasting us with water. When I went back before Halloween, I found it sitting in the grass. So sad.

  • when will steam ever again??

  • Unfortunately, I was only 2 when the ES&NA stopped running steam. On my first vacation there, I was expecting steam to be running, but I was WRONG!

  • Super video, and brings back lots of memories! I had the opportunity to run 201 and 1 when I would go down on vacation. I would like to get a whistle made like the higher pitched one. I do have a Burlington 5 chime repro but it the one on the loco isn't a Q whistle. Bob Dortch Sr. told me that he bought it locally , found it on the floor of a shed when looking at other items to buy.

  • I have seen this locomotive in person. This locomotive played an enormous role in my love for steam.

  • @razgrizaceblaze259 I spoke with a guy on the phone about what these whistles are. He makes whistles for living. The higher pitched whistle is definitely a 5 chime, but it is slightly a wonder what it is. Mostly likely though, iti s a CB&Q 5 chime. That deeper whistle is more of a mystery. It is likely a hancock, specifically one from the Frisco. I hope that helps.

  • Does anyone have any idea what kind of whistles are being used by #201 in this video? I know that in the videos of #201 uploaded by shay29772003, #201 is wearing a Powell 3-chime. However, neither of the two whistles that #201 is wearing in this video sound like Powell 3-chime, to me. Any guess at what kind of whistles these are would be greatly appreciated.
