Unfortunately this 2nd design seems to still be prevalent in aftermarket replacement mounts. I ordered online a new mount, and I (perhaps naively) thought the picture on the website that showed the new mount was what i was going to get.

It seems this 2nd design is still around in autogroan, oreillys, advanced auto, and rockauto parts.

I am on the fence with pouring my own mount with urethane molding with a 60A durometer rating off of Mcmaster... I tried a window weld mount, but too stiff.

Hi rich, I just replaced all four struts on my Saturn sl 2 , and with really good quality kyb struts. The car still has a harsh ride, could this be the coil springs ,or is this the way of this model???......thanks a huge fan

Check for broken coils on the springs also check you air pressure in the tires.Worn tires can make the ride not so good.

They will work but the other design is better.

Just replaced the mount on my 96 SC2, before I read all of the anti-frowny stuff on the Saturn forum. Now that I know about this, I examined the mount in place and found it to be a frowny (got it from NAPA). Now what? Really, how bad are they? I have an exhaust leak in the front pipe (old mount failed pen test, thought engine torquing over caused pipe to crack), so vibration from that masks mount efficacy. Many of the forum subscribers gripe about the difficulty in getting a non-frowny. ???

It should not be the 2nt gen (frowny) mount but if it is do not buy it.

hmm, ok thanks. everyone on saturn forums hate the autozone (frowny) mounts says there completely worthless, i would much rather trust you being a mechanic working on saturns all the time.

I like it you know why it has a lifetime warranty if it goes bad pop in a new one for just the time spent putting it in.

richpin what is your opinion on using the aftermarket motor mounts, like the one autozone sells part #2827 made by duralast?
