Dreamfall Review

Here's finally the review for Dreamfall: The Longest Journey. I don't like how this game's title steals the previous one so I just refer to it as "Dreamfall." I know this came out late and I apologise.

Thanks to all of my subscribers/viewers. I know there are always going to be people who really don't like my work or just want to make fun of me, but luckily I have a nice viewer community who rates down comments with no good intentions. Thanks again, and let's have a fun summer!

EDIT 6-11-08: Hobbitgoth nicely pointed out my scoring did not add up correctly. The score adds up to a 31, while I really give it a 32. All I can say is this was an honest mistake.

With the new videos I release I will begin to implement a completely different scoring system. For instance, replay will only be worth 5 points while graphics and gameplay will be worth 10.

I apologise for my mistake. This is only my 6'th review and I'm still making many mistakes. Thanks for all the support and see you in the next review.

i've just finished playing this game after 35 hours, fell in love with zoe and cared about the characters (crow was great!).... WTF.. happened to its ending? ..... the game kinda stopped....instead of me saying wow that was a fantastic game you've got to play this...i shall tell people don't bother......you can't end games like that after 30+hours of play....there's no reward,that's dumb....

I completely know the frustration you feel, but you have to understand that this isn't the end; there will be sequels.

Look up Dreamfall Chapters. Honestly, this game series is one of the best I've ever played.

Although we are left with way too many questions at the end of Dreamfall, I strongly encourage you to still appreciate the games for their incredible story and recommend the games to your friends.

Soon enough we will get all the answers to the questions we have.

Funny you should mention that. I was browsing the TLJ wiki today and happened to stumble upon the cat article. I finally figured out what the point of it was.

"Later when she meets Alvin Peats, Zoe realises the cat is one of Peats' spies, that he is somehow able to use its senses from a distance, so the poor kitty was probably an early experimental subject for Project Alchera."

I did not like the end that much either. It was simply too long. It should've ended with her in bed.

I've played both games, and it hasn't bothered me that there is a different main character in the sequel...I actually really liked Zoe. The story was great in both games. In the sequel, basically every moment I hungered for more and ended up playing 12 hours straight the first time. It blew me though when there really wasn't a proper ending, but hopefully the details will be explained with Dreamfall Chapters. Overall, I probably would buy the next game. But thats my opinion though.

To have 'story' under 'gameplay' totally screws up your score! There is a great story but there is little or no 'gameplay' combined, like you have it, with all your gameplay negatives of doors that won't open, too many loading screens, the inventory screen problems, etc, surely means the score for gameplay should be lower, even if it includes the story!
