Buffalo band John and Mary and the Valkyries performing "Clare's Scarf" at the Night Eagle Cafe in Binghamton NY, 5/18/07.

At the time of writing this song, like Clare, Mary lived in a third floor apartment and overheard many of the conversations of those living around her while never actually being seen by them.

  • it is nice to see my thoughts are written,

John and Mary just perfectioning the path the maniacs started all those years ago.

    Itis getting better every album!!

NEXT ALBUM WILL BE OUT IN JULY!!!!

  • I saw them perform a couple times for free last summer in this little bar in Buffalo. I was just blown away that I was hearing them in such a setting, and that the show had so much energy. I saw them when they were fronting the Maniacs and those shows seemed very stiff. They are so much better now that they are doing their own thing with no thought about winning everyone over.

  • Very well said and I can completely relate. There is something beautiful and charming about early Maniacs' music that is captured by John & Mary. Besides, I love both of them and wish them everything!

  • From a blog on "Group of Four" advocate Frank Stamm's myspace page:

"An undiscovered gem for fans of the 10,000 Maniacs are those little-heard John and Mary CDs. They continue the folky experiments of the Wishing-Chair-era Maniacs, a time before the band dedicated themselves to pop hits."

  • One of my top fave John&Mary songs from my fave band. Loving to see them here at You Tube. Thanks tons Lami.

  • this is music that i love. it somehow feels so natural to understand.

  • bands from jamestown seem to have a certain ittelengence, that goes along with there music

  • This is such a great tune. I have such a crush on Mary.
