This song from 1924 was written by Bud de Sylva and Joe Meyer, and first recorded by Al Jolson. It is much more well known than the official State Song of California -- ever heard "I Love You, California"? didn't think so.

Performers:

Vocals: Julie Austin
Piano: Tom Brier
Euphonium: George Preston
Tuba: Brian Schlegel
Piccolo: Julia Riley
Washboard: Kitty Wilson
Additional percussion: Mary Preston

  • I thought I recognised the inimitable playing of that eight-handed,incomparably-gifted,superbly dexterous Mr.Brier! How does one pronounce his name,I wonder;does it rhyme with the german word Bier?A delightful piece. This band is sooo enjoyable!

  • @Squarerig No, "Brier" is pronounced like the German name "Breier".

  • Is this the pink hat society?

  • Heh! It's a Raspberry trademark or somethin'. At a recent Raspberry Jam Band concert, there were a couple of actual red hat ladies in the audience. Their shirts said "queen" and "vice queen".
