This video is in loving memory of Kristen Dickmann, a midshipman who died unexpectedly of unknown causes at the Academy. Kristen's cover was placed at the top of the Herndon monument which is a traditional ceremony recognizing the end of Plebe year.

  • Thank you from the Aunt and Uncle of Midshipman Gregory Reichel. You made it possible for us to be there in spirit. We are so proud of, and grateful for, all our good and valiant men in the Navy and in the military around the world. God bless them all.

  • Well done you! Wish that music had been playing during the actual event.

  • @cjbots because there's about 1000 midshipmen in each class

  • Don't they rotor till the ground around the monument and soak it down with water to make a pool mud like they used to? The MUD was part of it, man!

  • why is it called "the charge of 1000..."? thanks

  • I got tears in my eyes watching her cover placed up top...PLEBES NO MORE! GO NAVY!!! Rest in peace, Shipmate!!!

  • meaningless but magnificent

  • Thanks for posting this tribute to Midn. Dickman and to 2011 which showed alot of class in dedicating their climb to her. Midn. Reichel showed alot of determination in getting back up there after each collapse. Great Job! Go Navy, Beat Army!

  • May Kristen's memory be held high and cherished by the Academy as an honor to her family. Regards, from those that served on the little ship that could, The Abnaki. Go NAVY!

  • I attended this event and had to leave after the first hour. What a great video to capture the essence of the ceremony and the final victory of the students. Thanks for the contribution. Go Navy! Go Marines!
