@SierraRailway Dixie does have a nice whistle, however, the #2's is even better, at least I think so.

#1 does get a little cliche after a while, but her whistle NEVER gets old! The big difference between Roaring Camp and YMSP is that they only have two locomotives to power the trains, Roaring Camp has 3 and a half. the half being little diesel #40, which helps the trains up the grade sometimes, usually the heisler #2 (Westside 3)

I think you mean the Queen. all locomotives are "women". Besides, she's only the Queen of the Standard Gauged shays, Westside 10 is Queen of the 3 foot loggers! She's the largest Narrow Gauged shay ever built!

@Chris9017 The Western Maryland "Big Six" is the King of the existing Shays!
The Big Six has grace, class, style and Oooooo, the brute power!!

This is a great ride and if you ask than the engineer will give you a cab ride which is all the more amazing.

My math teacher from 8th grade told me he helps run this locomotive during the summer.

Both Yosemite Mountain & Roaring Camp are kinda confusing, since they use similar equipment. Though Yosemite Mountain uses a better main work horse engine (which is #10, and she is cool). Roaring Camp's work horse is good, but is rather um too unflavorable, and kinda boring (which is engine #1), but Shay #10 is one of my favorite engines. My favorite shays after Graham County #1925 are Westside shays.

Oh well. I was close.
It's great that YMSPRR is keeping up this beautiful engine BUT that smokestack is inauthentic and ugly. "Balloon" stacks were used on wood burners. No. 10 has always been an oil burner. She looked much finer with her original straight stack. It is understandable for the Sierra to outfit its No. 3 with such a prop for movie work, but YMSPRR calls this engine "the Logger". No disrespect intended; thanks for preserving this fine locomotive but please dispense with the unnecessary fakery.

Rode on this back in '97 with my family. Narrow guage at it's finest! Thanks for the memories!
