The only thing "more voluptuous voice and round" is her physique. Lol. No one can touch Bartoli. Some make come close, but she's in the stratosphere in terms of here art.

This is how Vivaldi ought to sound like. Simply marvelous. Bartoli's gargling skills shouldn't even be compared with Gauvin's beautiful coloratura technique. Brava.

Her voice is glorious. I find her very difficult to watch. All the surreptitious movement takes away from the delivery, and isn't very flattering to a beautiful woman such as herself.

@carolineleiden Agreed:-). I just can't find Simone Kermes's version on YT, so I can't compare but in general I like Kermes too:-). Can you send me a link? I also like Invernizzi's version and Berganza's. Also Kozena sings this aria very beautiful and emotional. But I'd prefer her in Agitata infido flatu as it's supposed to be sung by a mezzo, and Armate by soprano. These are all very beautiful versions, feast for the ears. It's just exchange of OPINIONS on YT. MY favourites are Gauvin, Ryabets.

@serenaluce I hope all your multiple accounts are closed too haha spanostranny

@fourmy1060 But the fact that composers often gave male roles to women and women alterned roles with castratis is something that cannot be overloooked.

I have waded all the way through these comments (with increasing distaste) and am astounded. In what way is it relevant to the music if a person is gay or straight or bisexual? In a sense, I believe that one could also close one's eyes and just listen to the sounds : what dress or suit a singer is wearing, what faces s/he makes... is essentially irrelevant. And, speaking for myself, I find the personal, insulting and off-subject remarks laughable and revolting. Sorry.

@Zanghire This is really the matter of opinion and personal preference. Nobody knows how castrati sounded. A boy's trebble voice but with lung power of a man whose growth plates haven't closed and who then grew taller than normal and with more lungpower and training, we can't even imagine it.Given as none of us has ever heard a famous castrato, it's really a matter of personal preference if one prefers countertenors or women voices in the roles. And what does this have to do with Gauvin?
I hope and think that the title of this video just for create some intrigue.
In this case it's even gaily and fun:))))) Otherwise it would be very incorrect and inappropriate to make any comparisons...
