The vehicles are part of the Military Vehicle Preservation Association's 90th Anniversary Convoy. The trek from Washington D.C. to San Francisco traces the original Lincoln Highway route of the first motor transport convoy to cross the United States.
The anniversary convoy left Washington D.C. June 13th for the 26-day trip to San Francisco and is scheduled to arrive on the 8th of July.
The 1919 convoy was made up of 81 Army vehicles. It was staffed by 258 enlisted men and 37 officers, including then Lt. Col. Dwight D. Eisenhower.
The 90th Anniversary Convoy includes military vehicles of all eras, from World War I to the present.
Thank you for videoing this!!! My parents are both on the convoy--I would love to see the rest of the footage if possible, especially of the convoy departing. My dad is standing to the right (3:11 mark) as the convoy deprts, counting vehicles, when my mom's white surburban is about to pass--wanted to see that and the end of the line--that's where my dad would be. Great to see them all the way here in Texas! Blessings, David
