I first started going to watch speedway at the age of 4 years old. every friday night at the stadium in Southampton. I still mourn the loss of speedway here even now. yes your right, the smell of castrol R.
@jibbingking7 Briggo is currently in the UK raising money for racers with serious spinal injuries. Your dad put quite a few speedway boys "back together" again. You must be very proud of him.
Fantastic! My dad raced in New Zealand but followed all International Speedway and when any of the "stars" were in New Zealand they often stayed with us. I'm in the process of putting my dad's old video online, but I have nothing of the quality of yours (mine is standard 8mm converted now to avi) ... it's fantastic to see the old footage.
The good old days. My first world final was 1954! I don't think I missed one until about 1968. The atmosphere at Wembley was always great and the fans so friendly. The only reason the police were there was to control the traffic.

Does anyone know if there is an old movie of the Dutch speedracer Henk Verhoef in the years 1950's?
This is an excellent video.
