  • Well then again there is the asbestos and mold. Maybe it could be stripped for resources and knocked in.

  • I noticed the equipment and materials laying arround that could be salvaged. To some degree it looks like the place has become a local dump. Is the land patroled, for sale, for rent? I wonder anout the runway too. This place cold be turned into a nice campground, if cleaned up.

  • I was stationed there in 1971, what a great base, hope the area gets back on there feet, I was going to school for Pneudralics, I retired after 28 years in the same field as a master sgt....hope everything goes well for the area and some of the base...

  • the ones that recorded this video should be hunted down and arrested for trespassing, the soviets should worry about their country with the way their country is in turmoil.......

  • I look forward to seeing the new buildings as you describe.

    Long Live Chanute!!

  • This is NOT typical of the buildings on the base! This is White Hall, a building which has sat dormant for years. It would cost millions to repair and millions to tear down, so it sits. The hangars are being utilized and new buildings are being built. We have a beautiful airport and can handle a C5-A. Base housing is 90% full. Don't believe this Russian propaganda. Chanute wasn't suppose to be on the list, but it couldn't be removed. New buildings were under construction as the base closed.

  • So sad to see this Air Force Base in such sad disrepair...spent my time there learning to be a mechanic. Many good and many bad memories...I miss the B-36

  • Seriously, this looks like the Soviet bases during full operation. No wounder they collapsed .
