The first time that Firenza and Kiana have ever pulled a scooter ! Firenza and Kiana are my two Eurohounds. They are half sisters. Firenza is a little darker and has brown eyes and a brown and red collar. Kiana is a little lighter blonde and she has blue eyes and a blue collar. Kiana is a new dog for me. I have only had her for just over three weeks. In hindsight, this run was a bit on the long side for them, since they are new to this, but they did a great job. Kiana has run in harness on dog teams. Firenza has skijored with me. This was their first run together, other than 3 ground training runs with me running behind them on foot. They did a great job ! This video is of one run. The others got a bit ahead of me at first, since I had some trouble getting started. I was able to chase behind them for the second half of the run.

  • Lisa, great video. I could only watch the first few minutes (grrr.... slow internet) but Firenza certainly looks like the better trained and more confident of the two. They do match nicely when they run together and I bet by winter time you will have yourself a nice little team. Not bad at all for your first scooter run, hope you had fun! Also impressed with the fact that they just waited and didn't take off with the scooter when you hopped off to untangle them. :)

Thanks. :) Yes, it was fun ! Firenza, I have had since she was a puppy, and I trained her myself. She is more used to running with one other dog or by herself, so she has had more experience with that. She has not run on a dog team. Kiana had only pulled on sled dog teams before this. Both did great ! Yes, they are pretty good girls about not taking off after things or hauling the scooter away! However, if a wild rabbit, gopher or deer was in sight, I'd say all bets might be off !

I have always used the short harnesses. I like them.

The trail is just east of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The harnesses are Distance Harnesses by howlingdogalaska dot co m . I like them.
