I was having a hard time hearing the melody on this live. The open tuning was ringing too much. In the studio, I hear it much better and it sounds amazing.
@ryandonian I have such an instrument. I use it in places where the song is in an open key and an additional guitar is necessary, such as in the slow harmony solos on Pink Floyd's "Dogs." I can drone the bass part on the open strings while playing the rhythm guitar part, a simple two-chord vamp. I also use it for solo echo-harmony excursion. However, tapping on a bass is very doable-check out Stu Hamm sometime, and Michael Hedges for harp-guitar nirvana. Cheers!
Mark, you are an amazing player. I would love to see you with a bassist and drummer sometime, as the possibilities would be awesome....regardless, I love what you do.
@ryandonian I'm sure one COULD make such an instrument, but I'm not sure why anyone would. Double-necks are used primarily for two-hand tapping, like Mark does here, and a bass guitar would be a bitch to tap, if you could do it at all.

@ryandonian The guitar bass-combo DOES exist. They are just less common than the double necks you see here. Also, look into harp guitars.

O.O
win.
can they make a double-neck guitar with one being a bass guitar, and the other being a guitar? that would be cool.
