Brotogeris tirica - recorded at Serra dos Tucanos Lodge in the Atlantic rain forest in Brazil. A great place for birding - check out their website at www.serradostucanos.br

  • I suspect these are Forpus Xanthopterygius. The voyage of the Bretoa in 1511 brought back birds like this to Lisbon. The Tupi Indians called them "toim".

  • @saagua1953 No, these are Brotogeris tirica

  • lorikeets?

  • No, this species is Plain Parakeet. Lorikeets are a family of parrots confined to Australasia.

  • That would be net to have them show up at my backyard feeder. I won't hod my breath on that.

  • Me neither!! If you ever get the chance this place in Brazil really is a great birding spot.
