This groundbreaking book from the UK's leading spokesman on nutrition looks at why millions of people have craving for substances such as coffee, sugar and alcohol, as well as drugs. Meet he author who can help you become addiction free without suffering the unpleasant withdrawal symptoms.
I am currently reading you book and I find it brilliant. I have incorporated omega 3 and whole foods into my diet. The problem is, so many brands of vitamins are shit (to borrow your word ;) Can you recommend any good ones? Also, I've heard that if you take certain types of vitamins, you may interfere with the absorption of other vital nutrients. Can you clarify these issues please. Thanks :)

for everyopne's info, i'm reading "how to quit without feeling s**t" and yes, he does recommend alot of vitamins but so far he hasn't tried to sell me ANY of his own vitamins. i didn't even know he did his own range til i read some of these comments. i've got mine from holland and barrett so where are you coming from? for evidence of vitamin' effectiveness just look at what happens when we're deficient... things go badly wrong. vitamin, medicine? maybe

Patrick Holford is a fraud and a con man - beware what this idiot has to say he has invested interests in the supplement industries and is only interested in one thing like all con men - profit - avoid this fool like the plague.

Sorry folks, you cannot 'unaddict' easily, addictions are both physical and psychological, ( just look at how people on nicotene replacement still feel the urge to smoke ). Anyone who claims you can "become addiction free without suffering the unpleasant withdrawal symptoms" is lying. If supplements were the answer every addiction clinic in the world would be using them. Just hoping to save someone some money here.

@holfordwrong yup, it sure does, I drink caffeine myself, and I'm am aware of its physiological effects. However, there is a big difference between antagonising the A1 receptor and replacing dopamine in the brain as Patrick Holford claims. Also, I train quite often after drinking coffee, with a marginal increase in motor functions, so perhaps you are referring to caffeine in excessive amounts?

A peer-reviewed biochemistry textbook written by someone with a qualification in the field of biochemistry in an accredited institute. I am not one of those people, but I can tell you that caffeine does not "replace" dopamine in the brain. I'm interested in nutrition from a sports and a psychological viewpoint, and these statements by Holford are total bullshit.
