  • I was in the audience, although further back where there wasn't as much chatter.

Thank you for posting this so I can periodically refresh my memory how well Mavis performed at Strawberry after all these years.

  • Thanks. Yes, she was awesome as well as the rest of the band. Enjoy! I also posted Freedom Highway which rocked and soul'd!

  • I love this song, and I love Mavis also. I have been a follower of them since I was a teenager. Just celebrated my 68th birthday, and I still love them(Gopel Better), but never the less they are and always will be one of my favorites. God bless Sister D

  • Happy Birthday...this ones for you! Every time I watch this video, I get chills. It was such a magical performance! Props both to Mavis and her guitar player Rick Holmstrom...

  • for the record I'm not talking about the screams and the ones enjoying the show...I talking about the ones talking about god knows what.

By the way thanks for posting this I am a great Mavis fan, five stars 4 U.

  • I know but..by 50 seconds into it..she had everyone mesmerized and the chatter stopped.

Thanks for the stars..they all go to the great Mavis and her guitar player Rick Holmstrom!

  • yeah mama, i miss you.

  • NO ONE CAN EVER TAKE MAHALIA'S PLACE BUT SOMEONE MUST CONTINUE TO SPREAD THE WORD. ONLY ONE CAN DO THIS JOB AS MAHALIA DID. THE MIGHTY MAVIS.

  • wow. she's terrific.

  • Makes me wanna hug my mom! Heart-wrenching stuff. She's truly an inspiration! <3

  • Mavis sounds great! Go lady do your thing. I loved me some Staple Singers and Mavis had her rmoments where she wasn't always the best but she sounds great here.

  • Mavis just reaches in and grabs you by the heart. You'd have to be a hard, cold man or woman not to be moved.

  • avery touching song with lots of history for many of us. thank you for posting!! been a mavis fan for about 25 years or so.

  • No, this song, was written, and first recorded, by a Gospel Group, called The Consolers. I think it was around 1963, when students, were marching with Dr. King, and the parents were so worried.

    Blessings,

    Emerald
