The Pentagon says it has conducted a successful test of the U.S. missile defense shield network. The Missile Defense Agency launched an interceptor from California to intercept a target launched from Alaska. (Dec. 5)

I remember watching a documentary about this, they apparently have 3 layers of defense but they have yet to invent this last layer. I'm sure they have improved by now but releasing that information is dumb i think, especially when their 'layered defense system thing' is so shoddy as is.
