EXCELLENT video. Thanks so much for bringing forth information on Micheaux, a vital part of Black cinematic history, and indeed, Black history in general. His films were important...a breath of fresh, badly needed air in an era where African-American audiences were craving depictions of themselves not merely as maids, mammies, or caricatures but as human beings from wide and varied backgrounds, just like their White counterparts.

Having a public education like myself, I was unaware of Micheaux until recently. It was then that I discovered that he and I were born and raised in the same small town: Metropolis, IL. I will immediately present this fact to my high school teachers and make sure they incorporate it into their lectures. Indeed, this is a part of history that should have been passed down, like many other traditions. Thank you Mr. Micheaux for all you have done!

As a soon-to-be film maker, I'm indebted to you, Sir. Thank you for your audacity to validate yourself and your genius at such a time in history. R.I.P. I have no excuse; thank you OSCAR!!!
Educational and fascinating to see. I enjoy having the opportunity to watch Thespians of color because, most movies that were televised when I was a child, would have entire white, Asian, or hispanic casts. Mr. Micheaux may have been the "Stevie Wonder" (Genius at his craft) of the era that he lived. I even learned that James Earl Jones' father was an actor in film made by him so he also inspired a generation of black actors. "Thank You and God Bless You Mr. Micheaux".

Fantastic. Thanks for sharing and thank you Oscar. I saw Body and Soul with Paul Roberson on TCM and it is a magnificient movie. It would have been much better if the movie board had left him alone. Hopefully TCM and other stations will show more of his movies.
