@doorgunnerAmerical, My fellow brother in Arms... when life dealt us woes, it seems it is always to those in the Armed Forces. I live right here in a miltary town just outside of Schofield Barracks on O'ahu, in Hawai'i. Your story of your old girlfriend's father is a sad one, especially since he is Military too, but I guess he didn't want his daughter to experience the possiblity of you not making it home from any tour of duty. As for your marriage, for the sake of your own daughter, have hope.

A close friend introduced me to "Wait for Me." And I think of him every time I hear this song. I love it. Over time, it has it has come to remind me of my failing relationship with my wife (the marriage was going down hill slowly but surely). I was off in the Army and she was stuck at home with our daughter at her parents' home back in Kentucky.

@odiemodie1 -- Something similar happened to me. A girlfriend's father gave her a brand-new car. She could keep it if she dumped me. He never met me and I never met him. He didn't like me because I was in the U. S. Army. He was a soldier, also.
I told her to keep her new car and to go to college (he was paying for that, too). She'd probably have a lot of boyfriends in her lifetime but only one chance to go to college.
I never saw her again. I don't know how things worked out for her.

Good song, but makes me sad. A very close and good friend of mine whom I cared alot had to decide to go far away to school or perhaps stay and here with me... she decided to take school. It was for the best, I did not put up a fight and just told her her life was important, that she should do the right thing. My heart still breaks when I heard this song...
