Lyric Stage in Irving, Texas, specializes in great American musicals, done with full orchestra, full cast and big voices. For "West Side Story," running Sept. 5-14, 2008, Lyric brought in veteran dancer Grover Dale, who originated the role of Snowboy in "West Side Story" on Broadway (1957), to direct. Kate Swan taught the cast the Jerome Robbins choreography.

In the corps of young dancers was a tall redheaded kid named Harry Nathan Feril, a student at Dallas' Booker T. Washington High School of Performing and Visual Arts.

This short film shows the transformation of Feril, 18, from the auditions in May to final rehearsals in late August. Watch him dance. He's fierce.
