Tornado confirmed in Gravenhurst, Ontario

Gravenhurst survived a tornado, Aug. 20, 2009. It didn't make much noise on the news', but there was major damage to some lovely little homes. Large trees snapped like kindling onto these buildings. Neighbours stood around in shock. Others stepped in to help. Hydro crews worked hard with wires down behind the beer store. Having lived through Ice Storm '98, 10 days without power, we think the crews walk on water. Bless them one and all.

Lack of transportation is an issue for many. Did you not have insurance to rent one? I have a friend, paraplegic in a Long-Term Care home, who reminds me to be grateful for much every day.

I have been complaining about this, too. Central Ontario is left out of the picture, despite the tourists lining our highways and biways. As if we don't matter. With only a weekly newspaper, we are hard-pressed for news.
