Welcome to West Point, Americas prestigious military academy. These granite halls are renowned for turning out some of Americas most celebrated Generals but can it prevail in Obamas War in Afghanistan?
As America steps up its military efforts in Afghanistan, West Point will provide the ongoing stream of officers who must direct the fight against the Taliban and Al Qaeda. You have a calling to step up and serve and put on the uniform and say, Yes I want to lead says Senior Cadet Leo Marin. As statues of General Macarthur and Eisenhower watch over the new cadets, many believe that this war wont be like those before. Victory in a counter-insurgency is not going to look like what Americans have understood victory to mean in the past, says Craig Mullaney, a West Point graduate. There wont be a white flag of surrender from the Taliban. As well as turning out warriors, West Point claims its one of Americas best universities boasting broader studies to round out the modern fighter. But once the cadets get into battle, will they be adequately equipped?

  • army isnt a loser's job. without it, you'll get your throat cut off by some idiot.

  • lol, my friend you seriously under estimate America. They're both playing chess, except America has two rooks and a queen, for a quick kill, while china has a lot of Pawns and one bishop.

Explanation, America might be spreading itself thin, but it's weapons in place like "China's unsalvagable dependency on America's exports, as well as America's allies Japan, UK"

China's large trade deficeit with US,

    and

US's control on the western world, a far superior economic bloc than what China has.

  • @AvatarMarxon90 Yeah, only they had no money, no weapons, no organization, no leadership etc. It is US who gave them the power and it is time to cut our losses and leave.

  • @christo930 Uhh... they were already there. The resistance might have appeared after the invasion, but the Talibans were there, and fought from the beginning (and even during the war) against the Soviet invasion.

  • @AvatarMarxon90 Who do you think armed and organized the terrorists in the first place? The CIA made Bin Laden. When the soviet union invaded and occupied Afghanistan, we armed and organized "resistance fighters" who then turned against the US when the SU collapsed. Our foreign policy is the main recruitment tool the Taliban and Al-Qaeda has.

  • @christo930 You do know that Allied forces are helping the Afghan government fight against the terrorists? By terrorists I mean the Talibans and Al-Qaeda.

Send cops there. Or do absolutely nothing. What would happen? A couple of 9-11's or Madrid subway bombings, and you'd be crying for the return of an army. Think before stating things like that.

  • @christo930 How so? I truly can't understand that.

If it wasn't for the army, Portugal would be part of Spain nowadays. If it wasn't for the army, we wouldn't have a lot of inventions which are nowadays essential to our personal needs. The army is also necessary for some people to shape their character. I for instance, don't have the guts for a life in the army. But I know a lot of my friends have (and some of them joined the Portuguese armed forces, and are proud to be there).

  • @AvatarMarxon90 The LAST thing armies do is make us safe.

  • @tercac Going and murdering Muslims in their own land isn't defending America. I hope you change your mind.

  • When looking at these pampas uniforms, I can't help but think of the SS. What we are doing isn't that far off from what they were doing. Not only do we look like them, but we act like them. I am truly ashamed to be an American.

  • I'm a high school junior and this is my dream, to join and serve my country, a country that has provided me with the priveledge of an education. Thank you America God Bless!

  • @SSgtParmer Yes... in a certain way it is. But remember, without trashmen, we'd be having a lot more of diseases/ deaths. Remember that that was one of the ways the Black Plague spread during the Medieval Ages. So yes, trashmen do an essential part of work, although nobody aspires to become a trashman. But an army is also essential for our safety (by "our" I mean that of all our nations).
