I need to empty my display cases out so I can loan them out for a few months. That means I have a lot of trains to box up and put in storage. Thought I'd video some of them as I get them ready to store. This round is all Hafner ranging from the late 20's to the late 40's, with the exception of some orange Flyer pieces I ran behind the 109. The Flyer motor don't work anyway. Hafner never made an electric, these are all clockwork trains. They go as fast as they choose to and stop where they want to stop. Luckily I only had to climb on top of the layout twice to retrieve a train. Excuse the sniffles, my allergies are acting up this evening.
Enjoy.

  • Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it. When run at train meets, the windups are real crowd p leasers. Mant have never seen anyone run them.

  • What a nice video on the Hafner trains! I have long wanted to start a clockwork train collection, but it has taken a back seat to so many other things. Thanks!

  • I love the little bell, I wish that idea had stuck around after in some way! Also, really loving the tinplate "noise" of the old trains, it's what kind of makes me hesitate for a moment on my vow to never be much of a collector...

  • I've never seen anything by Hafner before -- COOL stuff! Thanks for sharing! :-)
