The reason that this car sounds as good as it does, is the location of the exhauts. For this car, the designer, Adrian Newey, placed the exhauts low down within the rear diffuser. This caused the engine sond its distinctive wail. Placing th exhauts here was no fashionable at the time as it coud cause an aero inbalance when the driver was off throttle. In 2011 this reappeared with engine maps providing a flow of gas even when off throttle. this was none as hot and cold blowing, now banned for2012
