Vegan Quiche (Spinach & Bacon) - Cooking with The Vegan Zombie

Jon makes a delicious vegan quiche.
Ingredients:
Crust
2/1/2 cups flour
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp chili powder
1/2 tsp paprika
1 tsp thyme
WHISK TOGETHER THE DRY THEN ADD:
1/4 cup Earth Balance Butter http://www.earthbalancenatural.com/
1 cup Earth Balance Shortening
START ADDING COLD WATER 1 TBSP AT A TIME (ABOUT 1/2 CUP) THEN WRAP UP IN A BALL IN SARAN WRAP. PUT IN FRIDGE WHILE YOU MAKE THE FILLING.
Filling:
1 pkg silken tofu - firm
1 tsp turmeric
1 tsp garlic powder
1/4 cup nutritional yeast
1 tsp salt & dash of pepper
1 tsp worcestershire sauce http://full.sc/M8ccGz
1 tbsp lemon juice
Franks Red Hot-optional
1/4 cup corn starch
1/4 cup soy or almond milk
handful fresh spinach
1/4 cup diced red pepper
1/4 cup diced onion
4-5 strips diced Smart Bacon http://full.sc/M8kIVO
1 Handful Daiya cheddar http://www.daiyafoods.com/
375 degrees for 45-50mins

All the vegan bacon I've ever eaten has been...not up to snuff with me. Which is really sad because I am really, really, reallyreallyreallyreallyreally missing bacon. What brand do you recommend? Or what brand that you've tried tastes and feels the most like real bacon?

Here, we used smart bacon. Which, if you cook it right, it's really good. Fry it up with a little vegan butter or oil until both sides are crispy. A new brand is the Phoney Baloney's coconut bacon. Also really good, but a bit salty. :)

Omg!!! You were Not exaggerating! This is UH MAY ZING! This doesn't taste vegan! It's tooooo delicious. I used roasted red pepper instead and smoked paprika instead of plain, then sprinkled green onion over the top for garnish. ;-)
When are you moving to L.A? I have dibs on u. Lmbo! ;-)

most of them do have anchovies in them. Not the one we use though. We provided a link in the video description for a vegan by the brand Edward & Sons.

Hahaha you really love your dairy cheese! Whenever you take your cheese and spinach out I have to laugh. These are really your favourit ingredients. :) I really love your recipes. I will move out of my moms house soon and then I can finally start to cook vegan ( My mother does not support it ). A lot of things to try I am so exited. If you want to try something new I can recommend Japanese food. Their recipes are perfect to create a vegan version. I need dairy cheese in Germany. Damn. Creetings!

Thank you for these recipes. My boyfriend was so afraid of going vegan with me but... he is rather clueless in the kitchen so he is stuck with my cooking. Im a good cook but your comfort foods made him completely ok with being vegan as long as I make him food lol
