@GhostyFilms He had surgery to remove 'nodes' on his vocal chords in late '73 or early '74; one, he never let his voice rest enough after the surgery and two, he strained it so much from 1969-1972, that it just couldn't go on forever. However, his more mature voice from 1993 - present day is still incredibly powerful and he hits some of those high notes, unbelievable as it is, as if it's still 1972! This version is from the 11th -- the 4th version is MUCH better, IMHO. (As is all of the show.)
Led Zeppelin Facts: Robert Plant had throat issues starting in 1971. From that point on, his vocal range slowly, very slowly, deminished. 1974 he had surgery for (nodes?) on his vocal chords. If he would have taken care of the issue and let things heal up nicely, he would have retained most of the vocal power he had prior to 1974. Instead, he went straight into rehearsals with the band though his voice was not polished. Hence most of the 1975 bootlegs he seemed a bit "woozy" vocally.
@GhostyFilms it because the problem with his voice. i don't know for sure. but he smoke and singing hard in every concert. that maybe caused the problem with his voice.....check out the bootleg recordings *highly recommended*
@GhostyFilms if you listen to bootlegs of their live performances up to 1972,he used to sing this and the rest of their songs like rock and roll, over the hills and far away, etc. much like the studio version, hitting all those high notes!so i guess he just lost his voice after it..all that screaming without any special training can be really harmful for a voice!that could be one reason..
