Demonstration video of simple diatonic, fixed tuning (A=440Hz) piccolo in D made from PVC electrical conduit tube, and featuring a Tipple/Fajardo wedge in the head to correct the second octave intonation. These piccolos are based on a design I developed for a cross-curricular schools project in which children make their own piccolos after learning some of the underlying science of sound and how that affects the design, then go on to learn to play at least simple local folk tunes on what they have made. As well as being available to do festival workshops or school courses with the original idea, I am now offering ready-made piccolos for sale, complete with an information sheet and fingering chart. Please see http://forums.chiffandfipple.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=70610 or contact me with any enquiries via the message function here on YouTube and give me your e-address. I will then get in touch to quote prices and/or discuss your requirements. Please say whether you simply wish to buy a piccolo (or several!) or want to know more about the workshop/course angle.

The tunes I play on this demo are, in order, The Trumpet Hornpipe (Captain Pugwash theme), The Tailor's Twist Hornpipe, The Gander in the Pratie Hole (jig) and Cooley's Reel.

Edit @ 22:12:09 - those with access to Facebook can see Michael Clarkson playing one of my piccolos here: http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=103005563057055&ref=mf - well worth a viewing!
