Hundreds of people participated in Long Island City's first-annual bike parade on Saturday, May 10. Artists from Socrates Sculpture Park, Freestyle Arts Association, Materials for the Arts and the Noguchi Museum started the day with workshops to help participants decorate their bikes. Recycle-A-Bicycle, Bike New York and Transportation Alternatives provided repair and safety tips.

After the workshops, accompanied by Hungry March Band and performers from Circus Amok, City Reliquary and the Civic Riders Bicycle Club, parade participants cycled through Socrates Sculpture Park, down Vernon Boulevard and through the finish line at Queensbridge Park. There, they were treated to music provided by Friends of Queensbridge Park. To finish off the day Recycle-A-Bicycle gave away 5 refurbished kids bikes.
