Sky HD Thomson Box Problems

Sky HD is a great product, but 2 years on Sky haven't solved some major problems with the realiability and consistent behaviour of key features such as fast-forward and rewind. Just as an example, in 30x search watch how slow the search is at the beginning and then watch it jump more than 10 mins in one go to the end of the programme. It would be interesting to see if anyone else has similar experiences and whether they are limited to the Thomson SkyHD stb only..

Just a quick update. I've upgraded my Sky HD now to a Samsung Sky+HD box - solving two major problems (1) tearing on Sky News ticker and other high movement in 576i (2) inconsistent FF and RW behavior and jumping forward. From my perspective the Thomson HD boxes weren't really fit for service and I'd encourage anyone who's experienced similar problems to consider swapping out either through the purchase of a Samsung box or persuing Sky until its resolved.

Here we are showing 30x search. Watch how slow the search is at the beginning (barely 2x speed) and then watch it jump more than 10 mins in one go to the end of the programme. Such large jumps are unacceptable.

This is inconsistent with the 30x function on the majority of standard definition Sky Plus boxes.

The Thompson Sky boxes have always been rubbish!! a friend of mine had no end of troubles with a Thompson Sky + box! had to return it! 2 boxes and they both failed!!!

My box HD box is really going to pot ! Nearing the end of its warranty. It wont live pause, tells me its recording a program that was on 12hours ago, alot of recorded things clash or fail for no reason and constantly pixilates during programs....................It­s becoming my worst enemy lol and it's typical just as the new Dexter starts this week !!!

i have exactly the same problem, although it's just a minor annoyance compared to my other problem. when i'm watching bbc three for more than a reasonable time (say 30 mins or so) the screen will go black and the tv says 'no signal' as if the sky box is off and the box doesn't respond to anything. it only happens on bbc three and no other channel (as far as i know of) and yeah i have a thomson sky hd box

That's nothing. I get really irritating problems from my Thompson hd box! Freezing, none responsive, won't turn off, 'Power cut' message after failing to record when there was no fucking power cut! ect Pulling the plug then let it reboot sorts the piece of shit out for a while.

And what the fuck was that auto turn off horse crap. I disabled it the first night. As it turned the box off at 11pm when I was behind real time. If all the residents of birmingham died because I left my Sky box on... :)

no it only rewinds i think its called and active memory it does up 120 mins of rewinding as long as u have watched for that long

i got sky HD in april so im new so they gave me a amstrad which works perfectly fine

i got a sky hd box, its thomson, and this somtimes happens to me too, also try fastforwding 6x and 12x, 6x will be faster for some strange reason LOL
