...it's in the key of A but with drop D tuning (low E string goes tunes down a whole step).
Eric uses his thumb to walk the bass line down for the main figure. When you make an E7th chord, wrap the thumb around the 2nd fret low E string to get the right tone... 12 bar all the way.
