In our first story we join community journalist Masizole Gonyela in the Eastern Cape and meet Zongamele Dumezweni who is a farmer and a member of Masibambane Support Group. Zongamele tells us about the education that the support group do and also the food garden that they work on together. The garden was given to the group by the Department of Health and the support group is responsible for the growing of vegetables. Members of the support group use to vegetables from their garden to feed themselves. They also sell vegetables to other members of the community and give to those who dont have money. In this way we can see how a food garden can help a whole community and make sure that people living with HIV are active in looking after their own health and generating an income. We also talk about the benefits of HIV Positive people having a small vegetable garden at home.
