augmented reality, AR http://www.netbooknews.com Using Qualcomm's Vuforia augmented reality platform, and the camera from a tablet or smartphone running the app, the user (hopefully your kids) can bring scenes to life. we saw Bert and Ernie enjoying some tunes after a jukebox was placed in the room. We also had the ability to turn the disco lights on and play music. Other accessories included a toilet and car.

Neat. But how do you make the dolls speak what *you* want? Cause back in days of ordinary toys, that's what children did when playing with dolls... speaking their characters.

this is definitely wonderful, amazing, and exciting. i'm wondering if it's more of a fun marvel for adults though, like was said here this is a demonstration of raw computing power. yeah! cool! but what does that really mean for sesame street-aged children? to me (many years in developmental psych), it seems less meaningful and developmentally appropriate for children. i think they'd be amused for about ten minutes, and then run away to do more imaginatively engaging things.

If you want it to be applied in education think about this: To be able to show a child how the inner parts of a spaceship look or a motorcycle. Or even to perform real-time simulations with minimal risk and with the ability to change variables in real-time. I;m not saying it;s there. but that;s where is heading. that was the idea when the research started. Again i apologies for the people butt hurt-ed by my intro. but seriously use your imagination. And stop bashing any idea that doesn't fit you

i see a lot of stupid comments on this video(not my intention to offend you). So let me explain maybe you will understand better what they wanted since allot of you like to speak without thinking to much. This is a prototype and is not by any means a polish app. This needs to develop , and it;s next stage are the eyeglasses that will incorporate this layer technologies. At that point it can be used for 3D real-time modeling and so on -> next post more info

Oh, you mean the same way you could be reading a book instead of watching youtube?

lol - when my vita made a hole in my table, filled it with water and a little hill with a jumper came out of the ground (table) ... that was quite impressive, when I moved the little cards around to model my own football stadium it was nice, but this seems to be the baby step version of what could be done. I mean show me what kids are supposed to play with it on day 2 ?!? And not even mentioning the stuck tv ... I hope it will fail if it does not very rapidly evolve out of the state of that demo
