We also grow nasturtiums in the vegetable garden to act as an attraction for the insects away from our priceless veg. We also use the flowers and cook them tempura-style. This looks like a good recipe so - rather than giving all the plants to the chickens - we'll try out this pesto sauce.

Hi Jonathan, have just made the pesto and it has come out very well - almost like the real thing and it's nice to be able to put the nasturtiums to greater edible use. Didn't have any tabasco so just added a pinch of salt. Do you know if you can freeze it?

@ivankinsman I've never tried freezing it before and I'm not sure how it would react so can't offer any advice on that. The olive oil should act as a preservative for a few weeks if you keep it in the fridge.
There is another nasturtium video on my channel - how to pickle nasturtium seeds. You may want to give that a try. Also, we have filmed but not yet edited a video on how to make soup with nasturtium, cauliflower and nettle leaves. I'll edit it soon and put it on YouTube.
