Response to a request in another thread on GIMP.
Applies to Photoshop and any decent image editing app. Disregard my attempts to use the eraser tool on a layer mask, as I'd initially intended to just use a couple layers and an erase tool. Instead I opted to move slow, and demonstrate some simple fundamentals such as layers, layer mask, transforms and altering colors.

Much nicer results can be achieved with more attention to detail and better source/destination picture choice and manipulation.

Check youtube for a lot of great Photoshop and GIMP tutorials.

  • lol that is pretty disturbing

  • @frigginjoe Whenever I paste a face on top of another picture it just becomes black.

  • @willliamx If the layer won't budge, then the boundary size needs to be increased.

    Click Layer, then Boundary Size.

Increase it by double, triple, whatever you need to give your pasted image the range of motion you need.

  • @shanz12345678910 Odd, I'm using 2.6.11 and it lets me do that.

I click the layer in the "Layers, Channels..." window and can freely drag above and below anything.

What I would recommend if it's not letting you move the background, is make a new layer from the entire background (CTRL-A, CTRL-C, CTRL-V then right click on your new "Floating Selection" in the Layers window and select "New Layer")

You can then hide your "background" version by click the little eyeball icon to the left in Layers.

  • how cute xD
