you must be stupid to think this is cruel or something =)). I do this every year since i was like 6.... or less. Its a tradition and we enjoy it cause all the family is gathering.
And about the raw meat....you take some parts of the pigs skin (like ear) , clean it, put some salt on it and eat some :P if you like it...

Their eating pigs skin after it has been burned. The skin is good to eat. Its a Romanian Tradition that goes back to the 14th century. Before eating the pig you have to eat its skin. Then the Romanians use the rest to make all sorts of food from toba, carne, and sausages. Basically Romanians buy a baby pig after Christmas raise it and before Christmas eat it. My dad said he always felt sorry for the pig, because it became like a pet. But also liked eating it...I never got it?

Ugh! You guys don't get it do you? it's a very important Romanian Tradition to raise a pig and kill it for christmas. You wouldn't understand because you didn't live there. It's our tradition, so let us be, because thats what we do. I've actually had really good times wiht my family when he were cutting up the pig. And i don't mean it in a sadistic gory way.
