@clipdan PS the original caps were 10V. I wanted to go one higher at 12V, couldnt find them - so I went with two 16V... Just to clarify... Last post might be misleading with (same caps at 12v) Thanks
-
@pcburgh01 -> nope, thanks for asking. In my case it was two capacitors, I couldnt find the same caps at 12V, so I went with two 16v. The entire repair cost me $0.79 for each Capacitor and $4.00 to ship it to me. I was lucky. There is a complete repair video of what I did on my channel, You are welcomed to view and comment on it there. Good luck if you do try to do this yourself, it's NOT for everyone, and it might not be YOUR TV's problem, however in many cases it is.

@clipdan if you don't mind me asking, what did that cost?

@Joeborgetto Joe, I dont blame Samsung at all for their repair/service department. I am glad they fixed your tv for free. I blame Samsung for putting unrated Capacitors@10V in thousands, if not tens of thousand in their tv's, while knowing there was a problem. In addition, knowing that their was a problem and for not conducting a recall, or bulletin to even alert consumers that if your tv has a problem, please call us and we'll fix the problem for free.
-
@clipdan No it wasn't. You should have called Samsung first b4 laying blame on them. They actually are a good company. This problem you had has occured in thousands of ppl's homes and Samsung has fixed the problem for those who asked.

@Joeborgetto -> I am wondering, was your tv still in warranty? Mine was not. I fixed mine easy enough either way. Had it back running in about one hour. I did the work myself replacing the 10V caps with a higher volt.
TON OF PEOPLE HAVE THIS PROBLEM!

i have problems with my samsung. got it in 2009. It won't turn on at or even try at this point....is my excessive complaining on the phone tomorrow going to get me fixed up for free at least? The message boards have blown up since the last time I took to the internet to investigate the problem with my TV. WOW! Samsung has a big problem on their hands. This is happening all over and the boards are packed with similar stories.

@pcburgh01- Not sure since I made sure to protect myself and buy the store's warranty to cover myself. I always recommend it for tv's. Reading all the comments on this video, you can see that the issue can be resolved by replacing 2 capacitors which will total $5-$10. Up to you

@ps3commenteryTV, @SonnyJamesJefferson, I called shortly after this video and the guy came to replace 2 caps. Tv is operating like new ever since

Our TV is only 3 years old and it did the same thing last year. We had to have the technitians come and fix it. Now it has a new problem where the startup sound keeps going on and it won't turn on until about 10 times.....

@SonnyJamesJefferson--Yikes! Sounds like you need to call back those techs for a repeat issue. My guess is they either installed capacitors that went bad again, installed the wrong ones or just didn't install them properly? :/ Sorry to hear about the issue. This is why I tell people to buy a warranty from a Best Buy or where ever b/c I didn't pay anything out of pocket. Best of luck, Sonny
