This is the Festergut raid boss. One of the two bosses which unlock in the second wing of Icecrown Citadel. The other one is Rotface. If you kill both of them you can continue to Proffessor Putricide.

What does he do.
Basically a phase goes like this:
-Clouds everywhere, raid gets damage.
-First 3 Gas Spores will spawn on top of 3 people you can move with them. The spores explode, leaving a debuff on everyone close, when this debuff expiress, you get another debuff Innoculation. Innoculation is important and you want it.(more on that later)
-Shortly after the Gas spores explode some ranged members will be targeted and they and everyone close to them gets in a gasscloud Vile Gas and disoriented and damaging nearby players. (that's why we have the healers in melee range. (but you need enough people ranged otherwise it will hit melee, 8?)
-Shortly after that Festergut will consume some of the gass covering the room reducing the damage the raid takes. This gives him 1 stack of Inhaled Blight increasing his damage.

This chain of events continues during the fight.
During the fight Tanks get stacks of Gastric Bloat, making their damage higher. But it kills the tank at 10 stacks. This is why you need 2 tanks. At 9 stacks you switch. Be carefull that if the other tank takes over the tanks with the stacks doesn't take aggro back because of his increased damage.

Now the key: the fight starts with a low hitting boss but the whole raid getting damange and the tank gets little damage. Chain of events stays the same. But as Festergut builds stacks of Inhaled Blight he begins hitting the tank harder and harder but the raiddamage gets lower and lower. So healer need to slowly switching from more raidhealing to more tankhealing. At 2 stacks the tank gets hit pretty hard and needs some serious healing, at three stacks we chained cooldowns.

At the end of the phase where he's got 3 stacks he inhales 1 last times and violently releases all gas. This causes a huge amount of raiddamage which is basically unhealable. Here is where the Innoculation debuff kicks in: it gives resistance to shadowdamage. By the time he explodes every raidmember should have 3 stacks.

Once he explodes, it starts from the beginning again with a room full of gas, high raiddamage, and low tankdamage.

  • So.... many.... addons.... how do you play with an interface that jacked up.

  • @CommandoOne1 Have a 24" screen?

  • nice vid man , looks like u guys did the raid pretty smoothly , cant say that for myself when i first did it :/

  • We didn't 1-shot him you know :)

And I almost blew up the raid. If you look closely around the 3 minute mark the other tank taunts too early while he was still at 9 marks. He taunted because I called out on vent for it. I luckily found out about my mistake soon enough to fix it and taunt the boss back before the other tank got a 10 stack.
