Washington D.C. (July 28, 2011) -- Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) today went to the House floor to outline the simple steps to avoid default and to take America out of debt.

See the video here. The full text of Congressman Kucinich's remarks follow:

"Here is what we should do to avoid default: increase the debt ceiling with no strings attached.

"Here is how to get out of debt- End the war -- save One Trillion over ten years. Repeal tax cuts to the wealthy- Save another trillion.

"Medicare for All: end the four hundred billion yearly subsidies for health insurance industry.

"Renegotiate trade agreements with workers rights, human rights, and environmental quality principles- save millions of jobs and billions of dollars.

"The Fed creates money out of nothing and gives it to banks. Why should our country go into debt, borrowing from banks when we have the constitutional power to create money and invest in jobs?

"We can have another New Deal where we put millions to work rebuilding our bridges and transportation system.

"We can have a Works Green Administration where NASA is the incubator of jobs designing and engineering wind and solar micro technologies for private sector manufacturing, distribution, installation and maintenance in millions of homes, saving money, energy and protecting the environment.

"We are the United States of America, the greatest country on earth. We envision wealth. We don't default. We create wealth. We don't default. We build wealth. We don't default.

America IS the greatest nation, because Americans realize that:

    1. Filthy indian savages needed to be exterminated and their land given to the rightful owners.

    2. Lazy negroes needed to be worked hard as slaves, and whipped and lynched if they got uppity.

    3. Slitty-eyed Asians needed to be bombed and burned to ashes.

    4. Latin Americans needed cruel US puppet-dictators to rule over them.

    5. Evilutionists, with their so-called facts and science, need to be ignored - Bronze Age texts don't lie.

Why exactly does anyone think America is the greatest country in the world? What makes them better than anyone else?

You're not the greatest country any more. You're evolving into the greatest dictatorship in the history of humanity. Not much hope for changing that. Most of the population is way too stupid to brake free.

The only thing left to do for the people who are aware is to stockpile weapons and tons of ammo so they can at least put up some resistance when the time comes.

Bush promised to show us irrefutable proof that WMD existed in Iraq. He never did. Why? Because they didn't have it. The chief weapons inspector said that there was no way they could have recovered a weapon program. Other countries that helped us in Afghanistan said no. CIA agents at the time claimed Bush misrepresented a report filed by them. The only evidence they showed us was a picture of what appeared to be flat bed trucks with what could have been beer kegs and taken from 100 miles.

Exactly. That's why we need to stay there until they've got a strong and effective, healthy government working again. But because of pacifists like you who want us to pull out, we are, and now they'll probably just end up worse than ever, instead of Germany or Japan who are now prospering because we helped them rebuild for 40 years after we liberated them.

And honestly, that may have been civilian death toll, but I seriously doubt we killed them all. I'm calling for a credible source, here.

#1: it's easy to criticize someone else's decision-making AFTER the crisis is over. There were indications of WMD's, and probably what seemed like enough proof to justify action. It's easy to criticize now that it's over and we were wrong, but what if we were right, and they had plans to use those WMD's on Manhatten? It was possible, and if it were the case, you would not be talking this way about it now.

And Turds? Seriously? You're mocking victims of a holocaust?

Our kids should not die fighting for the Iraqi people. Because of the war 10s of thousands of Iraqis were killed and hundreds of thousands were left without father's mothers, children, sisters, brothers...and also homeless. The status of the country is still up in the air and may collapse when we pull out leaving the country to the strongest element remaining....Islamic extremists. Your " Saddam was a bad guy" and "the people are better off" is consolation bull shit.

Excuse me Matt, but what the hell are you talking about? Who cares that and when we more people were killed than in Iraq. That approach is ludicrous. Are you kidding? 4600, mostly young American soldiers died in a place where they never should have been. We went there for WMD, which there never were any. There never was conclusive proof in the first place. What you are doing is rationalizing something...and doing it poorly. It's not our responsibility to avenge the Turds ro remove a bad man.
